Papua New Guinea (PNG) is using Collect Earth Online to support their Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) eligibility. The TFFF is an ambitious, performance-based mechanism designed to conserve tropical forests. The TFFF aims to reward countries for conserving or restoring tropical forests, measured through national forest monitoring systems. In Papua New Guinea (PNG), the Forest Authority is leading the effort to assess the country’s forest cover.
A new video describes how PNG is using CEO to visually interpret satellite images. The data collected will help PNG meet the TFFF’s eligibility and monitoring requirements and will also serve as a test for the monitoring protocol.
